Two men were injured in a drive-by shooting on Clinton Avenue between Greene and Gates avenues last week. As of press time, the suspects in the March 18th shooting remain at large.

Police investigating the case said the shots came at around 8:45 p.m, injuring a 75-year-old man, who was hit in the leg, and a 41-year-old man, struck in the buttocks. It remains unclear if they were the intended victims in the shooting, though reports indicate they may have been innocent bystanders.

A police spokesperson said witnesses saw the getaway car, but little else.

“An unidentified vehicle was seen fleeing eastbound on Grand Avenue,” the official said, but “no one at the scene at this time saw the shooting.”

There have been five shooting victims, including the two in this incident, in the Fort Greene and Clinton Hill area (which is served by the 88th Precinct) in the past several weeks. Councilwoman Letitia James said that warrants special attention from the Police Department.

“It is imperative that the 88th Police Precinct be declared an Impact Zone now,” James said. “I call on Commissioner Kelly to respond to the critical public safety needs within the 88th Precinct immediately.”
