Cuomo vulnerable?

Dear Editor:

Allow me to add to "This must be how they do things in Buffalo" (Pol Position- October 5).

Has Democrat State Attorney General and Governor wanna-be Andrew Cuomo morphed into Rick Lazio? For months prior to the September Republican Primary, all the polls and political pundits had declared former Long Island Congressman Rick Lazio the winner.

Why does Cuomo continue with Lazio's losing playbook by using the infamous "Rose Garden Strategy" and refusing until this past week to engage Paladino in a series of debates around the state?

It appears that there will be only one debate hosted by Hofstra University on Long Island later this month.  If so, despite a $23 million campaign kitty, favorable voter enrollment advantage of 5,500,000 Democrats to 3,500,000 Republicans, famous family name handed down from former Governor Mario Cuomo, well oiled political machine complemented by powerful union and Democratic clubhouse support -- perhaps Andrew could suffer the same fate as Lazio on November 2nd.

Voters may once again contrary to all public opinion polls and newspaper editorials decide that Governor Paladino is the one to provide real change in Albany.

Sincerely,

Larry Penner

Great Neck, Long Island
